THE OIL FACE CLEANSING METHOD - How do I cleanse my face with oil?

Face Cleansing Methods

Traditional "Soap & Water"

The traditional and more widely accepted method to cleanse your face is using soap and water, or face wash and rinse with water. We offer a number of non-soap foaming face washes - Unscented (sensitive skin) Antibacterial (oily & problem skin) & Moisturising (normal-dry skin), but if you prefer a bar of soap then you could use our Shea & Calendula Bar.

Cleansing Lotion/Milk

Ladies with dry skin tend to prefer cleansing with a cream cleanser or cleansing milk,  and we offer this kind of product as well - the unscented Plum & Avocado Face Cleansing Lotion or the Rose, Hemp & Jojoba Face Cleanser.

If you are new to this or unsure how to use one, we recommend applying the product on a cotton wool pad and then using that to removing your eye make up or foundation etc with gentle swiping motion. Depending on the amount of make up you use, you may need to repeat. To remove any traces of cleanser from you face we recommend following up with a cotton wool pad moistened with one of our facial toners. Or if you prefer, you can turn your hot water tap on and moisten then wring out a face cloth so it is nice and hot but only damp and not dripping wet, then use that to do a final cleanse.

The Oil Cleansing Method

The oil face cleansing method is fairly new to the western world but has been used in various countries since ancient times. The idea behind it is fairly simple, the oil is applied and it combines with the make up or if you don't wear make up with the oil that is on your face, to dissolve make up and impurities and you remove all that in one go, leaving your skin cleansed and moisturised at the same time.

The best way to use oil to cleanse your face is to spray a few drops on the tips of your fingers and apply to your face - cheeks, nose, eyes, forehead - massaging gently. Use more oil if you have to to get your face nicely oiled up. Then similarly to the cleansing lotion method above, turn your hot water tap on and moisten then wring out a face cloth so it is nice and hot but only damp and not dripping wet, apply that to your face, leave for a few seconds to really open those pores and with gently swiping motion remove the oil to reveal super clean and moisturised skin. You may wish to follow up with a toner and moisturiser, but you don't have to. It really depends on how tight your skin is, if at all.

Best oils for Oil Face Cleansing

You can use pretty much any oil but if you have oily skin it is better to stay away from the heavy oils like castor or evening primrose.

Face Cleansing Oil Blend

Our Face Cleansing oil is a blend of gardenia infused coconut oil, rice bran and japanese camellia oils. All these oils have been used traditionally used in Japan for face cleansing and even used as hair oils. These oils are light, non-comedogenic and suitable for all skin types. We have intentionally left our face cleansing oil unscented with essential oils to avoid irritating your eyes. But if you wish, you could scent your oil with a small amount of essential oils, no more than 1-2 drops per 10 ml.

Face Cleansing Oils

Most of our carrier oils can be used for face cleansing including Jojoba, Peach Kernel, pure Rice Bran, Grapeseed. We have ladies who love our Organic Coconut oil and use that for everything including face cleansing and shaving. Your really can use any oil for face cleansing, but we do hope you like our Face Cleansing Oil blend as that is really lovely and is even an Award Winner :)
