Our liquid black soap, which looks like melted chocolate, is made from African Black Soap produced in Togo (West Africa) in small batches by hand, using age-old traditional techniques, from pure virgin oils following fair trade and organic guidelines. The high percentage of shea butter (48%) is one of the unique features of this black soap. Additionally, African black soap has a very high natural glycerin content (usually removed from commercially produced soaps), which gives the soap its exceptional moisturising qualities.
This soap is best suited to fine, fly-away & dry hair. If you have normal hair, you could still use our African Black Soap as a conditioning shampoo, but we recommend you wash your hair with another shampoo afterwards. If you do decide to use the African Black Soap on its own, you will need a detangler or a natural hair rinse, which will neutralise any coating effect on your hair. To prepare a hair rinse you will need 4 tbsp fresh chopped parsley, juice of half a lemon and 500 ml spring water. Infuse the lemon juice & water with the parsley (simmering for 15 minutes) then leave to cool for 40 minutes, strain the infused water and bottle. Apply to your hair after shampooing and rinse.
Please note, this is a completely natural product and it may contain the occasional grain of grit. Please rub it into your hands or a sponge first.

Customer Feedback:
I just wanted to let you know how wonderful the African black soap shampoo has been for my hair - I have battled with dry, frizzy hair for years and have not worn it down much because it was out of control! For the first time ever my fiance commented that my hair looked nice! Thanks a lot...Angela, London
Thanks for the super speedy delivery! Yes, the eczema has improved! Running out of the African Black Soap would be a catastrophe! I am so impressed with the products, I can?t tell you ? and I love the scent of the oils in the shea & coconut butter. It?s so nice to have something strong smelling to put on as well, obviously, I can?t use perfume, etc., and it?s nice to smell of something pleasant and feminine...Karen, Surrey
I'm in love with the African black soap all over again. I use it to wash my hair every time now and I've no more itchiness and my hair feels lovely and thick. Thank you so much for your advice. I'm so glad I found you :-D ...Jannah, Wiltshire
Tonight, I washed my hair for the first time with the African black soap I bought for my baby daughter. The lather was brilliant with such a small amount of soap and when I rinsed...it felt like I'd used a proper clarifying shampoo. It really stripped away all the styling products that had built up in my hair. That is some amazing soap! It's so gentle on the skin...even newborn baby skin...and yet can be so powerful on the hair...Julie, South Yorkshire
The black soap works brilliantly on my hair. I could NOT believe how creamy it was when I used it for the first time this morning. And my hair was partially wet and yet it really lathered up, my scalp feels good and my hair really feels a lot softer. So many thanks again. And when I'm nearly done using the second bottle, I shall be ordering another...Pamela, London
I ordered the liquid african soap for my frizzy hair and sensitive scalp. The soap foamed really well, but it left my thick hair a little stiff afterwards. It looked fine after I straightened it though. But the best thing was - my scalp didn't itch at all...Pandora, Wiltshire
You're right about the African Soap - it's WONDERFUL! So moisturising and gentle on the skin! I'm particularly happy with it, as it's such a versitile product, I can use it all over body/hair/face. It's very convinient for me, as I go to gym every day, so I don't have to drag a washing bag with 100s of different 'lotions-potions'. Now in my washbag is only 1 item! I'm glad I've ordered 2 bottles and not 1!
