Our liquid black soap, which happens to look like melted chocolate, is extremely versatile:
- use it as a shampoo to soothe itchy flaky scalps & cradle cap (it worked wonders for my own baby)
- use it as a gentle & nourishing body soap on all skin types, but best suited to dry & eczema-prone skin
- an alternative to *oily baths* - the soap lathers really well as a body & hair wash, though it will not foam in the bath if you pour it under running water.
Our black soap is simple, pure & 100% natural. African Black Soap is used everywhere in Togo (Africa) by mothers to wash their newborn babies. It is said to be one of the healthiest soaps for the skin due to the simplicity of the ingredients.
Because of the high content of virgin shea butter (48%) & unrefined palm oil, this soap is naturally rich in in glycerine (most often removed from commercially produced soaps) and is it very moisturising.
And once mums have tried it on their baby, many order it as a hand or body soap to use for themselves. I personally love it in the shower & to wash my face.
Please note that as this is a natural product from Africa, there may be the occasional grain of grit in it, so it is advisable to use a sponge or a bath flannel or rubbing it in your hands before applying on your baby?s body

I must say I found your african black soap absolutely fantastic for my boy who has suffered eczema since baby. It is so mild and moisturising, the eczema patches on his body don't seem to itch and don't look as red as they were. It is early days, but I am sure his condition will improve further using this soap. I've also used it to wash his hair because he has a few patches on his scalp, and that worked wonders too. The African Baby Wash is brilliant! I can use it directly on my baby daughter with no problems at all. She is now totally free of any dry skin on her body. I don't know why but I was very surprised when it foamed up. The colour just doesn't fit my mental image of "soap"...I really like the African Soap and wondered if I might start using that as a handwash, as even my normal Ecover handwash is drying my hands out out and the scent, though herbal, really lingers...Julie, South Yorkshire
