I'm sure you will agree that we all need it ...Sadly though, when it comes to a small family run business, it means some inevitable service distruption for our customers and by giving advanced notification here on the blog as well as including a holiday closure message as part of all email confirmations since beginning of July, we are sort of hoping that there won't be too many of you who would run out of supplies during our break.
Unfortunately we can't keep the shop running when one is away, so luckily we managed to coordinate the bookings for the same duration. Julie & family are off to (hopefully) sunny Cornwall and me, Alan & children are heading to our annual destination - Bulgaria, to see my parents and relatives. It will be hot and sunny, and I am sure we will have a lovely time...
We'll be taking our summer holiday from 7th until 23rd August! . Our online shop will be open to accept orders, but these won't be processed until we re-open on Monday 23rd. To ensure your order is dispatched before we close please order by 10 am on 6th August.
As usual, after a long holiday like this, please expect delays while we catch up with the backlog. Julie has recently become quite an expert in fast parcel wrapping, seems it's me that will have have the harder job to ensure the shop is well stocked before we go
Enjoy the summer wherever you go! |

If you are like me, prefering your hair to stay put rather than get in your face throughout the day, you have probably found it almost impossible to find a natural product (free from petrochemicals, polymers, silicones and you name it it is in there) to do the job as well as conventional hair sprays. I have been searching for one for ages!
The first problem I experienced was the fact that most contained a chemical or two, or more, that I wasn't happy about. The second, at least for me, was the fact that ALL hair sprays I stumbled upon contained perfume, even some organic ones. And perfume for me is a big no, it makes me wheeze for starters, and most of the time I just don't like the strong scent. So, it was a relief to discover the Suncoat range a few months back, when I was able to purchase a small travel size bottle that I have been using ever since.
The first PERFUME FREE hair spray ever! Based on a polymer derived from natural sugar, the Suncoat hair spray provides a natural (or medium) hold and because it is enriched with flax seed and vitamin E, it makes the hair really shiny. There is no sticky residue either, and using the spray doesn't make me ill!

I've been meaning to do this for ages but it seems 24 hours in a day are never enough. Finally a spare moment and here I am, hugging the laptop .
For all of you who regularly (and not so) visit Facebook, why don't you join us there? On recommendation of a customer, we now have a fan page, where we are hoping to post special offers and tell you what's new here, perhaps also add the odd photo that isn't really suitable for the website, but would go perfectly well on Facebook.
Either search for Handmade Naturals, or follow this link
See you there x |

This has been due for quite a while but I never seemed to get the time to do anything about it....until Alan ( my husband) joined us back in January and appears to have accepted not only the roles of the 'company accountant' and 'postman' but also the one very important one of the company's photographer. Re-photographing everything for a brochure (yes, we are hopeful to come up with one soon) meant that all products had to be up-to-date and I've spend the last couple of weeks re-designing all the labels, which I hope our regular customers (& new ones, too) will approve of.
Instead of sticking new labels on top of the old ones, which doesn't look right somehow, I will be updating the packaging as the products are made so there will be a period when the different types of shower gels or shampoos may have some old and some new labels. Also, because we may not be able to update all photographs on time, you may receive a product looking slightly different to what is pictured online. I hope you will understand why this is (thanks to this post) and that there won't be any disappointments....And of course, we'd like to hear what you think of the new labels, so do let us know. |

Please note, we will be taking a short break over Easter and closing both online & retail shops between 31 March and 7April 2010 inclusive.
We've had 3 of the busiest months since Christmas, but to be honest we are all a bit worn out and decided to use the bank holiday over Easter to allow ourselves a little time to re-charge. Both me (& family) and Julie ( & family) are heading off to the Canary Islands, though not staying at the same island. Our last year's holiday in Fuerteventura was so wonderful, that we booked the exact same place and we are all looking forward to going there again, for total relaxation and to enjoy the delicious food at the resort.
I've added some messages on the website as well, but just to confirm here too, all online orders received after 10 am on 30th March 2010 will be processed & dispatched on 8th April 2010. Please expect some delays until we clear the backlog. |

| Care Jelly works a treat on Chicken Pox |

Well, that was quite a nice surpise.....a lady came in the shop yesterday, having previously bought a small jar of the Care Jelly for her son, along with some baby bath. She was very positive about the improvement in her son's skin since starting to use the baby bath, but the poor little boy had broken out in chicken pox shortly after their first visit to the shop, I promise you it's not related , and she was very surprised to notice how quickly the spots went away when the care jelly was applied on them and didn't seem to itch or bother her boy like she was expecting. There was no need for Calamine lotion, nor for Periton, which is often recommended to calm down the itchiness assossiated with the chicken pox rash.
Needless to say, I was trilled to bits to hear such positive feedback. Customers have previously reported huge improvement and even disappearance of eczema patches, but the product being effective on chicken pox was news to me. Manuka is such a fascinating plant, with extremely powerful anti-fungal, anti-bacterial & anti-viral properties.
So if you've used the Care Jelly for something unusual and found it really helpful, please do let us know. |

How exciting!!! 2 days till Christmas Day and the New Year just around the corner! I'm sure most of you have done the gift wrapping, organised the Christmas meal and are now eagerly awaiting a much deserved break.
The past year has been brilliant for us here, the brand has grown tremendously thanks to your support and kind recommendations to close friends and family, as well as the support of UK retailers expanding their natural ranges to include the Handmade Naturals brand. Our new distributor in Lithuania is also doing a fantastic job at marketing our brand in their country and wiping all existing stock every few weeks .
Last week we opened our shop in Alsager, South Cheshire, and that has been welcomed with great interest by the local community. I promise to take some time over the next few days to upload some photos of the shop, as we are clearly very proud of it, but if you do live locally, do pop in and say hi. The address is 68F Chapel Mews, Crewe road, Alsager. If you don't know the area very well, do send me an email or call for driving & parking directions.
Tomorrow is our last working day before the holidays, so I am taking the opportunity to wish you all a Merry Christmas & a very Happy New Year! |

It has been a hectic week, moving all the bottles and jars of skin care to the shop over the weekend, and gradually all making supplies in the week. There has been plenty of wall painting, mopping and dusting and arranging stuff around the shop. I've added some additional products to the range, like aromatherpary candles and a few skin care accessories. And I must say, it is looking really nice and smells wonderful. We did give a sneak preview to some passers-by at lunch time today, while Kev had the front door off the hinges to fit the new draft/rain excluder, and from their reaction, I suspect we will have a few busy days until we close for our Christmas & New Year break. If Julie gets a moment away from the post wrapping duties tomorrow, we'll both have to have a play with the till so we know what we are doing on the big day. And wish us luck - we open the doors on Friday!
If you live in the area, do pop round - 68F Chapel Mews, Crewe Road, Alsager! |

The past couple of weeks have been a very exciting time for all of us here, all working hard to coordinate and ensure the shop opening goes as smoothly as possible. I've been working flat out on the making front, to make sure not only all the Christmas orders are swiftly dispatched but there is enough stock to display in the shop as well. Julie has been doing a grand job on the packaging front, swiftly wrapping all the post so you don't have to wait too long to receive your products. Alan has been running the B&Q to get bits and bobs so that Bob the Builder (actually called Kev and being Julie's half) can get on with restoring the unit. After 2 weeks of hard work on Kev's part, we now have an 'almost' finished (decoration wise) shop area & counter, a workshop that is also shaping up, and most importantly .... a sign outside! ...credit to our sign maker, http://www.evansign.co.uk ! We are hoping to have the renovation works completed by the end of tomorrow, and Alan will be assembling the display cases, ready for the move at the weekend.
Getting in touch with me over the next week may prove a little tricky, as BT have done their usual trick promising a working line by the 8th so we place an order, and then changing the phone installation date for the 17th. Much shouting & complaining managed to get the date moved to Monday, the 14th, but I am somehow doubtful, so until I hear the all familiar dial tone on the phone I can't really take anything for granted. As soon as we have a number, I will update the contact details on the website, but unti then email would be the best way to get in touch. I would be able to check emails from home, in the morning and evening, so not ideal but it is still something.... |
